A little bit meta and a teensy tiny bit pretentious but I really love the mixture of magic and realism and magical realism and horror and coming of age all wrapped into one. I did get confused a little and I wonder if I would have had a better experience reading instead of listening to audiobook. Also I feel even though the ending was not "happy" it did wrap up a little too nicely for my taste.

A good book with some trippy and interesting ideas.  The characters are well written.  I could definitely see this being a banger for some.

I initially DNF'd this after 34 pages. I did not like the beginning, as I didn't realise the first part was a coming of age type story about three teenagers. But after that first fifty pages, it gets a lot more interesting, and I admit that I do like the writing style of this author. She writes in a very intriguing way, that makes me want to go back to her books even when I don't end up loving them.

I was on the verge of giving up with this author, but I don't think I will. She's very clever, and writes weird stories that really sink into you so you don't stop thinking about them.

But saying all that, I don't think I could describe this book if I tried. It's very layered, and it doesn't quite make sense, and by the end you're questioning what was real and what wasn't.

I adored The Last House on Needless Street, however this one was a bit of a tricky read.
I was sucked into the story to start with but I then found myself getting a bit lost with all the story layers! I feel like this might make more sense on a re-read through.
