A really multi-layered book with twists upon twists upon twists. The story never stops being compelling, and the spiral it goes down is complex, but not messy. All this to say: really fucking wild book. I loved it.

this book was good! it was also incredibly confusing and very meta. unfortunately it got a little too confusing and I struggled to follow along at times. however once it all wrapped up and I can see the bigger picture, I now realize how this book was cleverly stitched together and how intricate it is. would recommend for sure.

Could not have hated this book more.

This is a very cleverly written book. The narrative structure is complex to say the least and there are a few times where you’re left pretty confused - but it’s done on purpose and by the ending, you recognise the story for what it is.
Something Ward does really well is changing her narrative style depending on who’s writing but also having strings that connect them all together - it’s very well done.
My only gripe is that by the ending I was almost exhausted by the constant reveals and felt it was perhaps a little overdone, although I did enjoy the thinly veiled message at the end.

This book had so much potential in the beginning but it never went anywhere. The reveal is in the first half of the book and it just goes down hill from there.  it felt like Ward had a good idea for a story but then got writers block in the middle and essentially wrote a book about writing a book.
