I feel that I can’t say anything about Looking Glass Sound lest I say everything. The book is a masterpiece of experimental form and plot, a work of horrific art. OP
The summary of the book covers barely a third of the full narrative.
In terms of books by Catriona Ward, Looking Glass Sound is a diamond among gold coins.

Set against the backdrop of a coming-of-age summer along the coast, readers will get bound by town secrets, trapped by friend betrayal, and released from uncovering the truth. 'Looking Glass Sound' will leave you questioning every piece of the story structure long after you've set the book aside.

I liked the layers to the story (although I completely understand why so many people find it confusing). This book requires active reading and making mental notes of details, which I appreciate. Although, some details were made a little too obvious, in my opinion. Interesting in concept but overall, felt a little try-hard in execution. This was my least favorite Catriona Ward book. I had a hard time connecting to the characters in this one and a little too meta for me. I liked it but I didn't love it. I think if this was my first time reading this author I would have liked it more. I feel like Sundial and Last House on Needless Street are executed better. It's possibly a matter of my expectations were too high going into it. Still a decently entertaining read though.
