This book had my attention right at the very beginning and throughout the majority of the book. It was a lot darker than I realized it would be (which is okay, because I like some dark), it just was not at all what I was expecting. The end of the book got really confusing and I kept thinking I missed something and feel like I am not sure what happened exactly, but at the same time, I don't feel like I need to go back and see where I got confused. I did enjoy reading about the Homestead Act of the earlier 1900s and the in book experience of going to Montana to settle.
