Really enjoyed this story about a group of lone women in Montana, homesteading.

Lone Women was the April book for my virtual bookclub with the theme western. And of the westerns I have read I have normally enjoyed them so I was pretty excited for this one. And I did love it up until it fell apart for me haha. I enjoyed Adelaide and her story and the mystery surrounding the trunk. I 100% thought we were going in a different direction and I honestly would have preferred that. I didn’t get too much horror out of it, killing to survive isn’t really horror to me it survival. I liked the linemen aspect and how they came together. I really appreciated the sapphic romance (it was one of my favourite parts to be honest). Where it lost me was the magical realism part, I just cannot get with it especially if it isn’t really sold as that and then it happens, I feel like it makes something happen to the story and it always falls short after that. I was missing more of how it happened and came about and I want more of Elizabeth’s side of the story. I think it was a mixed basket for this read with the rest of the club too some loved it and some DNF’d it.
I think I’d probably still recommend it to certain readers.

I was so into this book for the first ~100 pages and then it totally lost all its momentum. So disappointing. I tried so hard to like this book.
I really enjoyed the genuinely creepy and unexpectedly heartwarming story of Adelaide Henry. The pacing felt a little strange, with too much plot shoved into the last 100 pages or so but that shouldn't stop you from reading Lone Women.
