I really love this series. It breaks my heart at times. Poor Soren shouldn't have to go through all he has been through. How this little owl stays as strong as he does, is amazing to me.
He's growing and just about ready for the great battled he's been preparing for. He is wise and he is strong. He carries on even with all his heartbreak.

This is book three of the series.
Soren and his sister are back in each others life. I found this part to be emotional. The struggles and memories Soren had to go through were sad. At same time, this story, what happened is helping him grow into the fighter he is meant to be.

Okay, this series lost me. It was fun and fascinating at first, but there was just so much exposition and over-explanation in this book. Like I get a quick reminder every now and then for some things. But do I have to read about how chrrs are the sound owls make when they laugh whenever someone does it?
Also, it was very evident in this book that it was just a series of plot points instead of an actual, flowing story. For example, the last book ends with a character snapping out of an amnesic state. So, you'd think the next book would start with the characters asking questions and finding out what caused the character to have amnesia, right? Nope! The character in question is barely mentioned until a 1/3rd of the way through the book. And even then, nobody asks them any questions about the past.
Then, towards the last quarter, the amnesic character remembers a bunch of info and then the characters take off to investigate. Like, why couldn't have that happened at the start? It just feels clunky and like there was not an overarching story, just different scenes that got shoved together.

More happens in this one comparatively to the last book. It still wastes tons of pages re-explaining things the reader already knows. I get this is a kids book but woof. Twilight still the most annoying character, interrupting the main battle of the book with his awful songs (poems? Rap lyrics? Idk man). Lots of mystery in this one though which is fun.
