Loved this book! A page turning novel from an Indigenous author that melds indigenous culture into a fantasy post apocalyptic world so beautifully. And even a little bit of inner child work in there towards the end, love it!

I was fine with everything until they arrived at the Shalimar. All of that seemed out of place. I knew Neizghani would be the one in the fighting ring. The cliffhanger ending has me wanting to read the 2nd book, even though I didn't plan on it. I just want to know what happens to Kai so I will probably read part 2.

Starts slow then becomes fire

i have read other books that used Native American mythology in post-apocalyptic settings, but I think this is the first one I've read that was written by a Native American. The difference shows in the depth of understanding in the characters and the worldbuilding and how they interact with the mythological elements. (And wow, Coyote is a lot meaner this time around.)

Great world building and a nice set up for the rest of the series.

This would make a great video game. I'll definitely read the next one.
