TheྉLoveྉOfྉMyྉLifeྉ
By Rosie Walsh
Release Date 03/01/2022
Emma has a very aggressive form of lymphoma and is trying her hardest to live each day to the fullest. Her husband Leo is an obituary writer for a local newspaper, and at night he sneaks off to write his wife’s. It starts as a therapeutic way to deal with it all. Once he begins, he starts to uncover so many lies; it would make your head spin. Emma is completely two separate people. One to her husband and one to the rest of the world. Do you know how hard that would be to keep up with?
The book is told in two parts. Emma, in her present life, married to Leo and has a daughter Ruby. Emily 20 years ago, with her best friend Jill (the keeper of all her secrets ). And the trauma she goes through (this is what she’s hidden from her husband for years ). I will not reveal anything about the second half, it won’t spoil the book, but it takes that
I enjoyed it but it was just a little flat—I’m not sure that it can qualify as a thriller. Secrets get revealed as the story unfolds, but there wasn’t much in the way of suspense

At no point did I ever know what was coming next.
I honestly don't think I experienced a dull moment with this book! This book starts off with going into an overwhelming detail about Emma's career and involvement with crabs. I was honestly going to shelf the book if we continued on with the crabs lol. This book isn't a thriller like the cover quote suggests but is still very good. These characters experience so much emotion within this book from betrayal, deception, lies, love, and what I would consider full circle moments. I appreciated that this book consistently kept me intrigued on what was going to unfold next and what secret was going to be unveiled. I can't even imagine being Emma or Leo because both of them went through so much alone.
The first half was just meh, then it became a page turner
I’m not sure if I would call this a thriller, maybe fiction with a bit of mystery woven in. I feel like to call it a thriller would be to do it a disservice because I find it to have so many different layers and genres twisted together. It’s very thoughtful and poignant at times but also a page turner. The characters are well drawn and developed and I found the ending to be worthy of the story even though there is a bit of twist towards the end.
2.5 stars rounding up. lots of twists (some felt predictable) but definitely not a thriller, moved slow. originally wanted to read because I knew that a character had postpartum psychosis and was intrigued
A great summer beach read. Kept my attention from the beginning right to the very end. Several plot twists that I really did not see coming. Some reviewers have complained that this is a mashup of genres and not a true thriller but I didn't have a problem with it because I thought it was pretty well written and compelling. I enjoyed the narrators and the bit of comic relief thrown in there by the character Sheila. Would recommend for a quick summer read.
