After following all of the dressmakers’ stories, and Clara’s two unlucky betrothals,I was ready for Clara to finally find her true love. Who better than the smart, attentive, and handsome barrister Oliver Radford to suit the beautiful but bored Clara? He offers her adventure and purpose, and unlike every other man she meets, appreciate her intelligence and treats her as a true partner as they chase down villains. This was an entertaining and sweet, happy story to end this series.

After an exciting start, not much...happens. That being said, Loretta Chase knows her job and does banter like no one else.

The witty repartee is witty, the prose sizzling, the characterization is alright, but the plot is a mess, and the blurb is full of lies. I WAS PROMISED MARRIAGE OF CONVENIENCE BUT THERE ISN'T ANY HERE!!!!

This was a good Loretta Chase romance! I have no interest in the other books in this series, but no complaints about this novel. I liked how it stepped aside from the traditional arc of meet-conflict-love-conflict-wedding-end, with a decent amount of book (if not actual plot) following the ceremony. Similar to the Lady Julia Gray series I've been enjoying, I appreciated the stress on equal partnership!

I loved this. The couple were so in tune with each other and their banter was so great. This is everything I want from a romance. I'm going to be rereading this again and again.

This wasn't my favorite book in the series and it took me a surprisingly long time to get through it. I was really excited for Clara's story, having met her in the previous books, and I liked Raven as a partner for her, but the story just lacked something. I'm also disappointed that we didn't find out what happened to
Spoilerthe Coppy siblings
in the end even after we found out what happened to
SpoilerSquirrel (whom I didn't really care about)
. Maybe there will be another book in the future to show what happened to
Spoilerthe Coppys
, maybe
SpoilerBridget
will meet a nobleman or his son and fall in love in another story. Overall, I liked the book, it just left me feeling a little unsatisfied with the ending. I'm glad Clara got her Duke, though.

Really liked the writing style and banter of the couple, a bit too slow paced and not passionate enough for me.

I felt a little let down by this because previous characters only made brief appearances. Plus, the stifling position of women was a beaten to death. However, Clara's and Radford's relationship and sarcasm was entertaining.

Lady Clara gets a book. To escape biweekly proposals and to do something useful for once, Clara Fairfax visits a barrister to try and find the young brother of one of the young women of the Milliners' Society. Sparks fly...
