When I discovered my love of Grady Hendrix's work I've wanted to work my way through his backlist. I have been looking forward to reading this one for awhile and I wasn't disappointed. While I love the horror and supernatural aspects this one felt so heavy on the meaning of friendship too.
Big 80's horror movie vibes that was also campy and I truly loved it. It wasn't a scary read by any means but we do get some gory demonic happenings. His writing is always so atmospheric and gives me nostalgia and has me smiling at the memories of things like, roller-skating parties, boom boxes, and music/tv references.
I never know what I'm going to get with Hendrix but this one was quirky, gruesome and fun!

This was the most entertaining horror book I’ve ever read. Maybe it’s more of a 4.5, because it doesn’t feel like an all time favorite book, but alas I’m giving it 5 stars anyway.

Jesus I know some people really like this book but the grotesque way the tapeworm being pulled out and good boy max’s death were described put me off. It feels like 80s references are shoved into the book at random points. AND it was so set up for a gay romance but nooooo they never get together but die together

The exorcism felt rushed and the ending was a little cheesy. But overall I had a good time.
I’d recommend to anyone who wanted a fun read for the spooky season.
