It was ok. Overhyped in my view, the beginning and end of the book were the best parts. I was expecting to really enjoy this and sadly it left me feeling flat. I enjoyed the 80’s references and it felt to me a bit ‘stranger things esque’, but overall it was rather underwhelming.

Starts slow with background, then picks up towards the end very fast.

This is my second time reading this book. I love it so much. Grady Hendrix really captures what it was like in the 80s: both the good and the bad. The heart of the story is the friendship between the two main girls. There are quiet a number of content warnings though so please check them before proceeding.

I’d Mean Girls and the Exorcist were a book (I think that’s what one review said and it’s completely accurate)
