This was a good book and a fun read. It was a typical slasher book with all the same stereotypes of the slasher genre seen both on screen and in book.

This was a book I was apprehensive getting into, as I'd read a lot of mixed reviews. Unfortunately, I really cannot see where the positive reviews are coming from. The book is cliché, maddening and indecisive. First off, the concept was cool. And, contrary to other reviews, I quite enjoyed learning more about the killer from his POV! It was different to others, especially in the slasher genre, which was a nice change. On the other hand, the killer's writing felt quite lazy. There seemed to be odd quirks of his that simply didn't add anything to the plot, or build his character. There was an attempt at
making his character seem childish, but it ended up reading as being somewhat insensitive to those who aren't neurotypical.
I was also absolutely unsurprised at finding out the author was a man- the female characters seem pretty bland and are literally only present because the guys had either romantic or sexual intentions with them. There were unnecessary sexual mentions that just detracted from the theme the story was trying to convey, in what I assume was an attempt to be 'reletable' to male readers? It felt creepy. And not in a deliberate 'horror' way. Overall, the characters were pretty poorly written, the constant switching of POVs made and tense moments easily forgotten and simply added confusion with the constant back and forth. It's okay if you fancy something with a bit of tension to bide some time, but I honestly would not recommend.
