The only good part about this story was the murders because they were interesting traps. The interludes of stand-up performances were truly awful, and because I was listening to the audio, I didn't even understand they were supposed to be stand-up until reading other reviews. I thought the characters just randomly started rambling while speaking to each other.

The characters are terrible. They're either thinly veiled caricatures of comedians or simple stereotypes. Honestly, the stereotypes might also be caricatures, but I just didn't get the reference. The ending and motives make no sense.

Just read Agatha Christie instead. I wish I had.

3.5

This was a bit of a mess, but I enjoyed it.
funny fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Plot
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Complicated

This book may have been about comedians but it was not funny! Ik it's supposed to be a satire butttt what are you trying to say dear author. It felt like reading a crack fic, things were just happening with no rhyme or reason, none of the characters were 3D, and twist at the end was frankly so predictable I didn't even think it was an option.
Some of the character  (Ruby Ng) were kinda interesting, so we get a half point for that.

Not Agatha Christie

While I enjoyed reading this book, I enjoyed Agatha Christie's book more.
I liked the monologue for each comedian but did not find them all that funny. Some of the material was crude, some not as much. I do see, after reading the acknowledgements, how the inspiration of many famous comedians contributed to the material.
I enjoy the "who done it" type mystery and will definitely read more of these types of book.

DID NOT FINISH: 5%

Already uninterested

"Ten Dead Comedians" is a comedic update of Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None." Ten comedians of varying levels of fame and fortune end up on a remote tropical island, lured by an opportunity too good to pass up. When they find the island deserted, no sign of their famous host, they aren't too alarmed until they start dying one by one. As the hours wear on, who will be the last comic standing?

The writing is light and the characters are fairly well developed given the relatively short length of the book. The stand-up routines interspersed throughout the story are entertaining and provide additional insight into the characters. A fun read for fans of classic mystery novels.

So dumb. Why on earth would you use And Then There Were None as a comparison on the cover of the book if you're going to plagiarize that entire plot for your novel?? It meant there was no surprise to the "twist" ending. The characters were also poorly written and their motivations didn't make any sense. It wasn't funny at all. Just bad all around.

I struggled to know how to rate this one.

It is utterly ridiculous. But in a kinda good way. I think. Maybe.

I enjoyed reading it. I didn’t really find it funny. Or get especially invested in trying to work out whodunnit.

3.5 rounded down.

Really funny and captivating, but I had no problem putting it down. Good enough read for a trip, not anything to get worked up over.

A fun update of Agatha Christie’s Ten Little Indians ( or whatever it’s called now)

Two problems: the killer’s motivation is really poor, and it’s just not funny.

However, I liked the ending and that’s good enough for me.
