Poetic like all the others. I really didn't see how this could end well. She amazed me.

Still thinking on it. Initial thoughts were disappointing but enjoyableish. Not entirely satisfying. Some plot points and characters were baffling in their introduction and rushed, for why? Still adore the highly flawed Ronan and greatly enjoyed Henry Cheng. More good than bad.

Terrific ending. I laughed, I cried, I gasped, I was scared, I was touched. Maggie’s writing in this one was phenomenal, so particularly addictive.
I fell deeper in love with all the characters in this one, and can only appreciate the immense character development for all of them because I did not feel this way about all of them at first. This is how you do characters. 🐦‍⬛

How do I feel about this book (about the whole series, really)? I'm going to use Maggie Stiefvater's own words, because when I read them I thought, "YES! That's exactly how I feel about this book!" So here goes: "He was a book, and he was holding his final pages, and he wanted to get to the end to find out how it went, and he didn't want it to be over."

Dang it! It disappointed me :( three stars because it is still written by Maggie Stiefvater and that means a well written book. But I didn't like the way the plot turned out and at some points it felt rushed :(

[reread in anticipation of the release of Call Down the Hawk]

Make way for The Raven King.

This is my second time reading this series and, because I knew what to expect going into this book, the dread that long loomed over me between the releases of Blue Lily Lily Blue and this book was gone at last.

That isn't to say there isn't a sort of dread cast all over this entire book. It's there. The reader and the characters within the book feel it from the word go: this is the end. The Raven King is here. Gansey's death has been prophesied. Adam and Ronan no longer hold dominion over Cabeswater.

The end is nigh.

I loathe talking about plot points of final books in series I love like this sometimes. Sometimes it's better just to not know what's coming. This is one of those books. I don't want to review it. I'd instead rather spend my time trying to get you to just read the series if you haven't already.

This series is as close to perfect as you can get and it doesn't get any better than this final book. Stiefvater outdoes herself time and time again and I can't wait to see what she does with Call Down the Hawk.

First, though I have to pay a visit to a pretty little corner of this series I've never touched before. You're up, Opal.

Before I got the book on Monday, my feelings were "OH MY GOD GET THIS BOOK IN MY HANDS" and just pure, sheer terror. Then I got the book on Monday and began to read and that turned into dread, overwhelming love for each and every character that graced the pages, and more terror.

Tonight, I finished the book. It broke me in half over its knee, gave my tear ducts a workout they haven't seen in a long time (I'm not joking, I think I got at least 1-2 tears on each of the last 60-70 pages), made me grateful for everything I have ever experienced reading this series, and gave me the sort of closure that left me satisfied enough, but let me know it wasn't always going to be a happily ever after.

It should be no surprise to anyone who knows me that now, officially, The Raven Cycle is my favorite complete series. I loved every bit of it and it absolutely pains me to my core to let it go, but the book is poignant in that manner, as it reminds is that nothing good lasts forever; the things that are here for their time and make their stamp while they're here are the things worth experiencing. And, of course, in my opinion, this will always and forever be a series worth experiencing. Just like the sentient forest, the snarky and lovable characters, and all else contained in these pages, these books are an experience and an adventure from the start on that corpse road to the finish at the Barns.

Thank you, Maggie, for everything. I can't wait to see what you dream up next.
