A really nice book that makes your heart warm reading it. Light-hearted cute book

Love a grumpy x sunshine slow burn.

All of Mariana Zapata’s books I’ve read so far follow the same slow burn formula, as in, they don’t really get together until the 90% ish mark and I’m completely here for it. I need to be in the mood for the slowest of slow burns but I know what I’m getting into and it’s always a great and satisfying read. She makes her characters complicated, flawed and likeable.

Listening to the audio.

uh holy shit this was so good. It was so freaking good and the best book I’ve read in a long while. I don’t even really LIKE first person or single POV or sports-centered fiction and yet?? AND YET????????? usually I try recs I see on tiktok with a lot of skepticism but this one blew me away. The slow slow slow development of their relationship and the way you watch him fall in love with her (and watch her fall in love with him) got me feeling some type of way!!!!!!

Bonus points for the “who did this to you” and a “if you touch my WIFE again I’ll kill you” scenes/tropes

Yeah, there are typos here and there. I don’t care. I nearly cried at the end of the epilogue. Incredible showstopping amazing never been done unique etc.

Mc lead got groped and mc laughed

oh my god. this is in my top five of books i’ve read this year. i cannot even put it into words how amazing this was. the romance genre has grown on me, but this was top notch. read this one.

loves:
-first person pov from the FMC, vanessa
-quiet yearning from both parties
-it’s always been you micro trope
-they don’t kiss until 90%, and when they do it’s one of the hotness moments i have ever read
-the build up, the tension
-the love: employer-employee, slight enemies, friends, confused, in love-lovers
-football was there, but in the background
-letting her shine: wanting to run a marathon, her graphic design business, christmas lights!!!

I thought I wasn't going to like this book bc I have heard it was a very slow slow burn (and alas I am impatient), but I actually loved it, the build up to the romance was well worth it and the tiny things that Aiden would do for her IM FUCKING CRYING RN WHO DO I NEED TO PAY FOR AN AIDENS POV NOVEL PLS

in sum: I loved getting to know these characters individually and getting to see the slow burn romance unfold, even tho it took OVER 70% OF THE NOVEL TO GET A ROMANTIC KISS BUTS ITS OKAY im okay bc it was worth it

3.5, really. Needed some editing and that took me out of the story. Liked this storyline and all the characters, too.
