I enjoyed this book.

It was a fun read with memorable moments. I listened to the audio book which was narrated well.

I thought it was a good plot and I enjoyed the characters (except Oliver🤨)

I enjoy Holly Jackson's writing! Wait, did we ever find out what the pattern on the curtains were?

6 young people with no backbone go on a road trip with a bully. They encounter a sniper in the woods, but that is just a detail in the story. The main point is that none of them has the guts to stand up to the bully, not even together. The result is a lot of unnecessary injuries and deaths that could have been avoided if the bully hadn't been a plot device.

The characters are bland and empty.

*Red*: Main character, only personality trait is self-pity. Complete decision paralysis in everything because of it.
*Maddy: Takes care of Red's self-pity. No other traits.
*Oliver: The bully and an asshole. No one knows why he's in the group.
*Arthur: Obviously supposed to be the hot, mysterious guy, but it's so obvious that these are all character traits that it falls flat.
*Simon: Somehow just there, who knows who that is
*Reyna: Kinda only there
