This is a great book! If you loved We Are The Ants, then this book is for you. Hutchinson melds sci-fi elements into his stories about normal teenagers wonderfully. However, just like in We Are The Ants, he finds a way to make these fantastical elements fade into the background in a novel focused on people. 10/10 would recommend
Sei lá, fui com muitas expectativas e acabei me decepcionando.
Achei We Are the Ants melhor

What a fantastic story revolving around heartbreak. If you've never experienced it before than you won't know how devastating it is and how long you hold onto those happy memories. I love the way Hutchinson tells his stories through metaphors and I can't wait to see what he comes up with next!

Wow. A really clever book.
In all honesty, I'm not smart enough to give this one a good review. Just know that Shaun David Hutchinson continues to impress me with his powerful storytelling abilities.

this book is hauntingly beautiful, from the characters to the plot to the meta, everything about this book strikes a pain in your chest unlike any other. almost all of the characters are lgbt, which is refreshing. the main friend group consists of people from much different backgrounds, and each have their own wildly different interest, but yet remain the best of friends. this book covers over the issue of heartbreak, friendship, learning to move on, and what we want to do with our lives. it teaches us that sometimes we need to take risks, even if they scare us. the best part is the ending. *spoilers ahead*. ozzie doesnt get tommy back, per se, he doesnt end up with anyone. but its not treated as a bad thing, he learns to move on, to let go, to become his own person. he goes on a trip with his best friend and considers it one of the best endings he couldve gotten. this ending isnt the ideal one, it wasnt the one we were rooting for the entire book, but it was realistic. we cant always keep those who we love the most. and yet the main character and his love interest still inquire as to whether or not they may be together again someday. this was possibly the happiest ending of all: learning to accept things as they are, and learning to be okay with yourself. i dont think there will ever be a book that will resonate with me as much as this one did.
Hey, need a book that is trying to help fight the stigma against mental illness AND presents a realistic view of LGBTQ with a wonderful array of characters and a scifi-esque overtone? I got you this book.
I'm going back and forth on the rating of this book. My biggest problem with it is simply that while I loved the minor characters for the most part, I found Ozzie insurable. He frustrated me throughout 80% of the book. I also thought the book was a little too long. There were moments when it dragged and I was ready for it to be over. But even having said all that I didn't hate it? I liked the concept an awful lot, I just didn't love the follow through. I'm stuck between a three and a four so I guess that makes it 3.5?
