With twenty-three days to live; he must bring a Terrorist Group to justice, or they will unleash a deadly virus, eradicating humanity. In an alternate continuity to the Manga series ‘Death Note’ by Tsugumi Ohba; the unidentified author ‘M’, novelised the original Movie, poignantly detailing the events in a lighter, and fast-paced style. The given name of the author is 'M', which suggests that Mello wrote it. It is in his font and it is his pseudonym. But this can't be the end of the story. Mello might blaze from the Death Note pages, larger than life and twice as bold, but he's still fundamentally a fictitious character. He patently had some help in the penmanship in the structure and word choice. Unfortunately, the light novel is either a ‘hit or miss’ with the audience; fortunately, I adore the literary format, along with the whole collection of story-formats. Keeping this review short maintains the mystery; I highly recommend reading the original Manga before delving into the Movie adaptations, Anime and essentially the light novels – Classic!

Some of the characterization is Wack and L is big time idealized and made to seem like hes a genuinely good guy, which hes rly not. The plot also isnt too easy to follow. BUT I do love L and i love having more content and even though most of this book and movie is a certified acid trip, its definitely fun. L spends 99% of the time big depressed abt Lights death, which was my favorite part all in all. Its a tragic lawlight field day. So 5 stars for that!!

As a Death Note fan, this book was a highly satisfying read. This is for anyone looking for an alternate ending to Death Note /a different take on how things could have happened. Also for anyone whose favorite character from the series is L.

My first light novel. This is an alternate timeline based on one of my favorite anime series and characters. The usual wit and mentally thinking several steps ahead from Death Note are present here and L is written as more of a protective character as he has someone to help in this story. The dialogue felt like it was from a manga or anime, which doesn’t always translate well to novels, but it was mostly fine. Besides a plot twist at the end, it was generally predictable, but the ending was touching and well done. Overall, I’m glad I started light novels with this one.

I have put this book on hold as I originally thought that it would start around the same point as the anime series did. I haven't finished watching Death Note yet so I am left very confused. I will definitely come back to this book when I have finished the show though!

I didn't enjoy this one as much as the BB murder book. This was alright and it was good to be back in the Death Note world again. But I did find it to be a bit boring at times. It's probably not one that I'm going to be rereading in the future, unlike the BB one.

I AM REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REAAAAAALLLLLYYYY EXCITED AND LOOK FORWARD TO READING THIS BOOK!!! *cough* ok I think my caps lock key is working again, sorry for going into fangirl mode (which I can assure you will most definitely happen again after I read this book. L!!!! OMG I love you so much you have to be soulless not to like you!!!!! My friend Julie suggested this book to me today (it'd already been on my to-read list, not this one, the shorter mental one of my to-read-as-soon-as-possible list) Julie said it was super and I just can't wait! GAH just thinking about another story with L *total fangasm* *breaths deep breath out* ok I think I'm calm... For now.
