Nikki Ash KILLS it with the single mom romances! Such a good story line and as a happily ever after ending!

This was my first Nikki Ash novel and I cannot express enough how much I loved it!!

Fool Me Once touched on several tropes which is why I think it touched on so many of my emotions. The story began with a heavy look on the relationship between Blakely and her sister Sierra. The family they now were, the family they lost, and the connection that Blakely was deeply trying to regain with her only remaining family member. There were so many times their relationship reminded me of my daughters and the times they have been close or struggled with their own battles. It broke my heart in pieces reading it and I needed Blakely to find some happy.

When Blakely first meets Keegan it is just meant to be a fling, something to boost her spirits out of the slump she was in and definitely there were to be no feelings involved. At least that is what she kept telling herself. When they parted ways after spring break and she left with a part of Keegan and no way to contact him, her life drastically changed, but perhaps not all changes were a bad thing. How often do we fool ourselves that we aren't invested, but turn out the bigger fool in the end? Been there and done that.

Four years come and go and the most important people in Blakely's life are her sister and the one friend who has always been there for her, Brenton. While she only sees him as a friend, he has other ideas. By luck or fate, when Blakely actually runs back into Keegan and he once again turns her life upside down, Brenton doesn't exactly like the idea of being set aside. Blakely isn't sure how to make everyone happy, but she also knows she needs each person in her life as they are all important to her. This is the ride and the journey that will make your heart race. What will happen? What has happened? GAH!! What I will tell you is that it is like riding a rollercoaster; you will be really glad you got on once the ride is over, but you might scream during the ride.

Fool Me Once is an emotional ride. It's heartwarming at times, shocking at others, and such a journey you won't want to miss it.

Surprise baby

I enjoy how sweet are the guys that Nikki writes, but sometimes I feel like there's no enough groveling.
Blakely has been through a lot, so much grief over losing her parents and then her sister Sierra shutting her out of her life, in a trip where she was just a part of because her sister couldn't go alone since she was underage, B meets Keegan and after him chasing her a little they spend the rest of spring break together, but as fate would have it, Keegan looses her phone number and months later B finds out she is pregnant and there's no way to find Keegan.
B getting pregnant makes Sierra be close to her again and together they raise Zane. Until one fateful day B runs into Keegan or well, that's what it looks like anyway.
They are sweet but lies and secrets can fuck with possible happy ever afters.

Shame on you... 3.5 stars

Fool Me Once is a neat story. I think it would have been more fun not having the "final puzzle piece" from the beginning. But even knowing the surprise for Blakely wasn't a surprise to the reader, I was entertained.

It's swoony in the way Keegan steps up to be the dad we hoped. Sweet sighs at his feelings for Blakely. Overall- sweetness and sexy, of course.

Just okay, too many different story lines going at once, never really connected with any of the characters.
