Probably the best thing I've ever read by Lovecraft. Even at his best, he's too wordy, but this has some fascinating ideas in it. A species that sends its minds forward to inhabit another species to escape disaster? A species obsessed with cataloging every detail about every world and species that it can? Fascinating. It would actually be more interesting to get the Yith perspective than one of their victims', but I still highly recommend this one.

I enjoyed the first and last parts of this story, but not the middle.
