A fun and interesting sci-fi. I liked the use of the Terracotta Warriors as a reason for exploring the galaxy. I also like the way that time is measured in this series and am curious to see how that plays out in the other books. I enjoyed the characters and the mystery element as well. I will come back to this series in the future.

Thrilling and exciting - I couldn't put it down. The space travel/alien question/Qnet and tech combo with the archaeological mystery were absolutely fascinating. Within minutes of finishing book one, I was already online getting the second one! Lyra was a neat main character and fun to follow on her journey through the galaxy.

This book was a lot of fun! It wasn’t perfect, and sometimes the writing wasn’t the best, but honestly who cares! I have loved this author since I first read Poison Study. The Study series remains one of my favorites ever. I think going into science fiction was a great choice for her. I love her settings so much and she does a great job making you feel like you can “see” it. It’s one of the reasons I enjoy her books so much! The characters and romance were not as strong as in the Study books, but I warmed up to them eventually. I look forward to reading more in this series.

Review:
I love this.I got interested very quickly. I liked the friendship and the idea of this world and I didn't lose my interest at all.

I loved how the story altered focus between the plot and the relationships. The humour was great as well. I loved not knowing what to come as far as the plot goes.

I loved how each and every character was good and different. We got changes in our view of the characters as well.

I loved Naill and his quick thinking. Also, I loved his relationship with Lyra. He really respected her. I loved Lyra as well. Maybe even a little more. She was intelligent, kind and still acts like a teenager.

I love the family aspect in the book as well. Both the families we saw had different approaches but they were good and flawed in their own ways. I especially loved that Lyra's parents trusted her.

Other characters that I loved:
- Radcliff
- The captain

The writing was just… so bad.

Loved this book! I really enjoyed getting to know the characters and love the plot and science fiction elements. Maria Snyder is one of my favorite authors -- it is so exciting to see her enter one of my favorite genre's - Sci Fi! Can't wait for the sequel!
