⁣ I loved that Lyra was outspoken, insanely intelligent and has a beautiful relationship with her parents ( dunno this was just really refreshing for a 17 year old protagonist). This book was in first person and Lyra talked directly to the reader, something that I sometimes don’t overly enjoy but in this case found very entertaining. The book is centred on Lyra and her parents hunting down Terracotta warriors on planets across the universe. I do love Chinese history so I’m really excited to see where this aspect of the plot takes us in book two and three, I want more terracotta warriors! Of course we have a love interest and it’s funny/ interesting to watch that unfold. The book was all action forward the end and didn’t disappoint. I’m really excited to read book two this month, just in time for book three to be realised in early December! ⁣⁣

Okay, I couldn't put this book down! I LOVED the idea of terracotta warriors in space. Archaeology and super quantum computers?! My two favourite things! I've always enjoyed Maria V. Snyder's writing style, it flows and it's simple and I think that's beautiful.

This is my first time reading any of Maria V. Snyder's young adult titles (I don't agree that the Study or Glass series are YA), but it has a lot of her trademark humor. I'm more used to her as a fantasy author so it took a little extra time to really sink into a sci fi story by her, but when I did I was heavily invested. The intrigue is great and the characters are a lot of fun. I found myself laughing on more than one occasion. There is a lot of mystery, as well, and I'm looking forward to learning more about the Q-net and the terracotta warriors. As for the audio narration, Gabra Zackman once again gives a wonderful performance. She provides a wide array of accents and does a really good job with the characters' inflections. She really helps their varying personalities shine through. I'm sincerely looking forward to the rest of the series.

Really enjoy the voice of the main lead on this one. Excellent as always.
