This book is just super cute.

It feels incredibly familiar, and yes it’s predictable. But that’s what I want from a feel good, cosy novel.

I’m very sad that I can’t ever try one of Thimble’s baked goods. There is a recipe in the back of my copy of the book that I might have to ask someone better at baking than me to have a go at.. with my baking skills it might as well end up being a friendly little rat.

If you're looking for a very cosy adventure then this is it.
It's soft and warm and is the perfect read for curling up in a blanket with a hot drink and a snack.

The characters are all so thoughtfully written, the conflicts handled with grace and the world building (although the world is small) is full of mystery and friendship and branching stories that you just want to visit Thune, snuggle into a booth with a latte and a cinnamon roll and people watch the day away.

One of my qpps recommended this book to me and it hit the mark for me. It's not a high fantasy world saving book but it's fun and cozy like the coffee shop it centers around. The characters are loveable save maybe like 2
they are meant to be. Seriously screw Fennus
. And yes, there is a romance but it's not the main focus and I feel like it is sweet. One of them isn't stated to be ace but honestly I headcanon them (I don't want to spoil who) as ace.  Ok I will
Tandri reads as ace. The way she reacts to Thimble's food just reads ace to me.
.  Also spoiler for the end
who the hells is Darius really? Like it's hinted that he's a time traveler or a god or who is this mystery gnome!?

Warm and fuzzy at almost every turn, with just enough action to keep things interesting if that isn’t your thing. Absolutely adorable character designs, with genuine and natural stranger-to-friend-to-family growth. A romance that doesn’t feel rushed or like it comes out of nowhere, built on understanding and sometimes knowing your partner better than they know themselves. Addresses racism and sexism subtly but tactfully, with an emphasis on the value of community. A quick read but worth every second.

This was weirdly disappointing. It wasn’t a bad book, but it didn’t meet my expectations. It was not nearly character focused enough for my taste and it barely made me feel anything.
I’ve read many stories set in and around coffee shops, namely in the form of fanfiction, and that is what I expected this book to also give me. That was a mistake. I didn’t realise a story about a coffee shop could be this intensely about running a coffee shop.
I also expected more romance, but that was barely there, which is a shame because I really like Viv and Tandri together. It comes with the problem that the story was not character focused enough. I wanted more conversations and interactions. However, they were actually quite sparse while the book was too busy driving the plot forward.
