The only problem with this book is that it is too short. The language is just so beautiful. As someone who feel in love with Malory's as a child, reading something that has the same feel but with so much more heart (and less smiting. God Malory loved a good smite) was such a job. I love how Griffith brings all her research into "dark ages" England into the King Arthur mythos and then just queers the fuck out of it.

Though the writing was itself was lovely, it didn’t feel wholly engaging. Probably evident by how long it took me to read a book of less than 200 pages.

I really only got through a few pages at the time; I never felt encouraged to read much more than that.
