A queer, gender-bent retelling of the Arthurian legend told with magical and poetic prose. Quite a short read but the pace isn’t rushed. I really liked Peretur’s character; she is kind, caring, brave, and deeply connected to nature. Great disability representation via Lance as well.

An Arthurian legend about a queer hero written by an Early Medieval scholar?!?!? It was also just a delightful read that had it's heavy moments but left me feeling nourished and uplifted for having read it. I found Spear engaging, enriching, and it seems to have scratched an itch I didn't even realize I had. And as so often happens with itches, now I want so much more.
