The Enterprise is ordered to transport criminal Dr Georges Mordreax to rehabilitation, but he escapes and kills Captain Kirk. But soon Spock realises he must take action to prevent that death occurring.
An entertaining re-read.

3.5 stars.
The Star Trek novels aren't fantastic literature, but they're so much fun! The audiobook of this title featured George Takei and Leonard Nimoy, both of whom are great additions to the story! This one plays with time travel and parallel versions of the characters in a story that sees the death of Kirk (at least in one timeline).

I'm going to need to reread this before I make any official comments, but I <3 Spock.
This is the first original TOS Pocket Books novel. It's surprisingly robust for its vintage, people always knew how to tell banger Star Trek stories. Also the author is so clearly thirsty for Sulu and it permeates the entire book and honestly that's pretty refreshing? Lots of good emotional weight for one of these.

A very fast and captivating read. I especially admire the smooth changes in POVs, sometimes mid-paragraph. The characters, both from the original series and the author's own, had great voices, with one glaring exception: Sulu's out-of-character heterosexuality.
3.5 stars it's an interesting story about time travel. I really liked how they portrayed spock dealing with time travel and the death of his best friend captain kirk. What really brought down the book was the Dr. Mordeux motive makes no sense.

Fun time travel murder mystery at its best. But sometimes it’s too slow.

The Enterprise is called to transport a criminal, a temporal scientist, to a rehabilitation center, but complications ensue when time travel runs amok -- future versions of certain characters appear, whose actions must be prevented at all costs.
Half Trek, half Doctor Who, with plenty of time travel paradoxes, going back in time to change the future, and whatnot. Some really GOOD secondary characters are introduced, and I do hope I'll be seeing them again at some point.
I should really add an extra half star for Sulu's epic mustache on the cover...
