This is one of those thrillers where you know the most important details very early on. You know that a rich guy covered up a hit-and-run death, and you even know who he is. The rest of the book mostly concerns itself with whether he gets caught.

Personally, I like a little more mystery in a book like this. I don’t like to know more than the characters (some of them, anyway) about what’s going on. I’m not very invested in whether a character figures out what I already know. When you take out that little core of mystery, I just don’t find the result very compelling.

There are a couple of other twists in store, but they are mostly details that don’t change the overall shape of the crime.

The book itself is well-written, and I’ll be interested to read her books in the future.

This is the second book I read from this author & glad I did! This was a great book & took me for a loop. I definitely didn’t expect that twist. Logan needs to be in hell!

slow at first but a good story

I had a hard time caring about any of the characters in the beginning because the POV changed so often. The first 70% of the book could’ve gone a little faster (and some of it cut out) but the last 30% was fast moving and wrapped up pretty well. Lots of wisdom about what really matters in life.

I’m giving this four stars since I feel generous because of the holidays.

The story, at least, is original. The book is related in two timelines: the present and three months earlier. It also has a few characters telling the story, which makes the beginning of the book very confusing until you figure out what the author is doing. Unfortunately, and this might be me, I had a hard-time following who was who for a long time at the beginning. It was also annoying the fonts used on the Kindle version, so it took me a while to get into the story.

Still, the plot is very slow at the beginning, and other than an unforeseen twist around 65% of the book, nothing really happens until almost the end.

I’m giving it a higher rating because of the originality of the story, and you may enjoy it if you are into thrillers and mystery novels.

This was an intense morally thought provoking book.
Holly (mom) and Savannah (daughter) move away to start over after a tragic hit and run accident killed their husband/father. But, despite a grand new home and money in the bank, it cannot replace guilt and grief.

From the beginning, the book reels you right in. Despite the fact there are several POV stories going on here, they are easy to follow and they all come together as the characters discover how they are all connected.

The downside of this book to me, is the fact it is fairly short and so the timelines and ending comes together quite rushed. I think it was such a great storyline, it could have easily been stretched to over 300 pages.

If you want a shorter read which you just might finish in one sitting, this is the one.
