Picked this book for our little book club’s first read of the year. I was really looking forward to jumpstart the year but with the writing style, my brain just started malfunctioning (and smoking I ended up reading 13 other books on the side hehe). Stevenson could be Hugo’s son loljk.
The plot is indeed haunting. The kind of non-apparent horror still lingering in this age; the difficulty of keeping the hanky in the middle of a tug of war between one’s yin and yang. Yes, it still is a relevant literary piece people should read and reflect on at least once in their lifetime. But I guess I read it a little too late because it wasn’t surprising anymore (and I don’t know if I should be scared of that fact!).
Would I read it again? Maybe but probably not.

I think I would have enjoyed the first half of this book a lot more if the plot twist hadn't been spoiled before I was born. However, I do find the statement of Dr. Jekyll to be very interesting. I can see why this is a classic, despite me not being able to read it in the intended way.
