I think I would have enjoyed the first half of this book a lot more if the plot twist hadn't been spoiled before I was born. However, I do find the statement of Dr. Jekyll to be very interesting. I can see why this is a classic, despite me not being able to read it in the intended way.

It was alright. Was a bit hard to read but I enjoyed the gothic elements of it
Edit: I recommend doing some reading around this book and the time before reading it or re-read it after because it definitely adds enjoyment to the book. I read a journal article on women's role in the novel and how they are very present in the story even though at a first glance, they are invisible. I highly recommend reading it.

I really enjoyed revisiting this book having not read it since school, and I appreciate the story more than I did then. There were some parts that weren't as strong in my opinion, but overall I enjoyed the narrative and the horror elements.
More of a novella or a long short story than a novel. It really isn't a difficult read although the material written in Dr. Jekyll's voice seems more tedious than the rest of the story. I found it interesting to read the original work that was behind all of the horror movies but I was appalled at how easily Dr. Jekyll rationalized allowing his "evil" side free reign. Obviously self-involved narcissism doesn't belong solely to teenagers.
