2.5 stars.
It's disappointing to me, given the setup and the fact that it actually talking about mental health issues, that the moral of the story seemed to be: "if a guy thinks you are beautiful, you can feel beautiful". I wanted the conclusion so badly to be inner growth, but in the end it just-- wasn't.

DID NOT FINISH

The plot developed in a way which annoyed me so much (unrealistic) and additionally the main love interest turned increasingly into the most unlikeable character ever.

This book was cheesy but was entertaining from beginning to end. It doesn't have any interesting setting or deep characters but good writing. 4 stars is because I didn't feel bored and the book was kind of fun, had good characters and few interesting things sprinkled throughout.

I'll pick up a book of this author's when I'm in a mood for light, funny romcoms.

perfect quick swoon-worthy teen romance read. i wish ella and brian had more interactions (even though that kind of goes against the premise of cinderella oops), and brian's texting seemed more like a teenaged girl, but i still cried (the true sign of a good romance) plenty.

When I saw the title, I figured that this would be a re-telling of the story of Cinderella. Now I am a big fan of all things fairytale, (one of my favorite shows on television is Once Upon a Time) especially modern day fairy tales with a twist. I don’t generally rely on reviews to determine if I should read a book, but seeing that this author is fairly new to me I changed my modus operandi. The reviews I read indicated that this was a good read so I took the plunge and I was glad I did.
This is a beautiful story of love, acceptance and healing. Be prepared to be taken on an emotional roller coaster ride that will likely stay with you for few a days. It’s funny and entertaining. It had me LOL, smiling, crying and angry. I was especially angered when Ella’s stepsister treated her like a pariah. The tears were as a result of the degradation she suffered at the hands of her peers.
What I loved most about this book is the interaction between Cinder aka Brian Oliver and Ella. Their banter was fun. The fact that they never met added to the mystery of their relationship. Here are two persons who have been communicating by internet and IM for three years and were able to develop a friendship that would prove to be as enduring as time. This friendship grew into love that would be life changing for both Cinder and Ella.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. It was a wonderful read. The characters, the plot and the writing were delightful. Cinder and Ella provides die-hearted readers like me with the perfect tools to escape reality, even if it’s just a temporary fix. If you love the concept of happily ever after and that of being swept off your feet by prince charming, then Cinder and Ella would the perfect read for you.
NB: I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this book! I want you to understand that I am quite greedy with my 5-star ratings, but I think I knew from the prologue that this was a 5-star read. When I got the chills and my eyes teared up, I knew I was in for something special.

While I read, I felt Ella's pain, suffering, fear, frustration, happiness and joy. I was devastated for her when things were bad and happy for her when things went well. You cannot help but root for Ella. She is a great combination of a strong, but wounded heroine. She was dealt a tough hand, and she was knocked down (more than once), but she kept getting back up. You had to have some level of admiration for her. She could have become angry and bitter, but when she was on the precipice of giving into those dark emotions, she would take a step back, and reflect and would take her personal growth to the next level. I found her to be such a beautiful spirit.

Then there was Brian. ~~SWOON~~ He really won my heart. I don't want to reveal all the details, but I did find myself sighing and smiling until my cheeks hurt.

This is a story of survival, of love, of acceptance (of all kinds), of friendship and a testament to the human spirit. It may not be super realistic (it is a work of fiction), but I could not put it down and I smiled the whole time I read it. (I still have feels from it)

Ella was is a car accident which killed her mother left her permanently injured and burned. She moves in with her father who she has not seen in along time. The move also brings her closed to her best friend who also happens to be a famous actor. I love Kelly's writing style and her take on the well known fairy tale. I also love how she has explored the interactions with family and the difficulties in making new friends.

I mean... Let's say this–I was under the weather and it was free and I read the whole thing in 8 hours. Is that enough? That's enough.
