I loved this book.   Set in the summer before COVID hit and based around the major bushfire crisis across Australia.  I found this book hit all the right notes.  It made me cry, but it was hopefully crying.
Would I recommend this to students under year 3, probably not and I do worry that the cover will make it appealing to younger readers who had not ready for the darker topics at the end of the book.   However I think most readers will love the characters.
Another story that includes a missing parent who has passed away.  That said I did love how this was dealt with and it was only one small part of the ongoing story.
