TW: grooming, underage (15-22 the first time any romance happens), ignoring lack of consent re:spanking. the heroine manipulates the hero into sex with false pretences. i can't think of anything else at the moment.
i generally try to keep my negative reviews to "this book wasn't for me" because usually that's the simple truth.
this book, however, was a whole different story. it was absolutely disgusting.
jacob all but actively grooms lily for basically the entirety of the flashback chapters.
he actively ignores her saying she doesn't like being spanked and constantly treats her like a child.
he rips the engine out of her truck to stop her from leaving the house.
the author is trying to portray this toxic relationship as romantic and it's like watching a train wreck.
not to mention the complete lack of trigger warnings over this content.
overall, i would avoid this book at all costs. you can find better brother's best friend basically anywhere.
