I put off reading this book for a long time, because I thought it would be a difficult read: on the contrary, I didn't find it difficult at all. I just couldn't put it down. I was engaged from the very beginning, and I enjoyed the complicated and imperfect nature of all the characters. Emily Brontë writes beautifully as well, many of the descriptions and rambling narratives I found captivating. This is definitely one of the best books I've ever read.

i will forever be obsessed with wuthering heights. the most toxic and transcendent and obsessive display of love and hatred. “and i pray one prayer - i repeat it till my tongue stiffens - catherine earnshaw, may you not rest, as long as i am living! you said i killed you - haunt me, then! the murdered do haunt their murderers. i believe - i know that ghosts have wandered on earth. be with me always - take any form drive me mad! only do not leave me in this abyss, where i cannot find you! oh, god! it is unutterable! i cannot live without my life! i cannot live without my soul!'”

I'm sorry. I know this is a classic but it was torture to read through. I saw another person say they read it for their AP Lit class, and like them, I love reading and I loved almost every other book we read in the class. But Wuthering Heights read excruciatingly slowly and could not hold my interest whatsoever. Not to mention I believe the story could have ended about halfway through the book. The entire continuation with Heathcliff's and Catherine's children was completely unnecessary.
