I should not have listened to this while in a public place. I cried so many times. I also laughed and learned and wrote quotes in my notes app, because it is my beloved Sister Beth. But the struggle of working through trauma and being a good daughter and friend and overcoming is so raw. I appreciate her honesty and her acknowledgment that her story is not over.

I find rating a memoir really hard. It doesn’t seem quite right to give someone’s life story a low rating. That being said, I had heard lots of amazing reviews for this book so I had big expectations. Unfortunately it didn’t quite live up to the hype. However, I’m glad I read it. My first bible study experiences in the early 2000s were Beth Moore. I really admire her and the way she stood up for what was right and wrong even when it meant she left the church/denomination she’d been with all her life (Southern Baptist).

While I would typically reserve 5 star ratings for books I need to reread I couldn’t hold back from this one by a person I have admired since 1995 and admire more even now. She’s lived a life of love like no other and like I would only aspire to live.
