Terry has hit it out of the park again!
so many surprises and new adventures, but I think I’m so in love with Kahlan and Richard I’d enjoy reading about them doing anything.
I also have a very, very, very soft spot for Cara.

I don't know why I keep reading these books, even though they annoy the hell out of me. I like the adventures, I suppose. But my biggest pet peeve of the books so far is how many times a statement, phrase, or description is repeated - even within the same chapter, or the same paragraph. I get that when you go from one book to the next, some of the main points need to be re-described in the next book in case someone starts in the middle. But sheesh, this author has no faith in his readers'ability to remember what additive and subtractive magic are, what a war wizard is, and the 47 other things that keep getting repeated and repeated and repeated and repeated on every page. This would have only been a 2-star review, but the story was actually pretty good in places, so I added a star.
I'm committing to reading one more of these books. If the next one is anything like the last two I have read, I may actually stop reading them in spite of my compulsion to read an entire series if it has been written.

In the aftermath of a battle with the Order, Richard seeks answers from the past. All appears to be going well until there is plague in the city. With thousands dieing each night Richard seeks an answer in the Temple of the Winds. As part of magic used to heal all the infected of the new worlds Richard must take the magic of the plague into himself. Kahlan goes on a desperate journey to save his life...but at an unknown cost.

Honestly nothing really happened in this book until the last 150 pages. It all felt like it was building to the end. It wasn’t not enjoyable, but it felt like it took way too long to get going. I’m still going to continue with the series but I’m hoping that the rest of the books aren’t as slow as this one.
THis is where one of the best fantasy series I have ever read begins it's death spiral. The story is still interesting, but clearly no editor was allowed to touch Mr. Goodkind's sacred draft.
The kind of thing you read when you're a teenager and don't know any better.
Where is the negative 1 star option???
Yeah, I am done with Goodkind. This was the worst of the bunch. The twisted torture rape scenes, the pathetic female characters. The Ultimate RICHAAARD. All of it. Goodkind is a pig, a misogynist pig. The only interesting characters are the ever plucky Zed and a few older women who are just too darn old to rape, I guess.
Ugh.
I am so sad this series was ever written or got any of the attention it did. Horrible writing, horrible characters. The writer plain out enjoys the nasty rape and torture scenes a tad too much for my taste.
Usually I ALWAYS finish a series. I cannot think of any boring, lame series I have not plowed through just because, dammit, I finish what I start. But this one: I just can't.
I am not sure what woman hurt Terry in his no no place, but man, he seems to have a grudge.
