Can I just say, Kahlan's "betrayal" had me feeling as much anguish as she was(and Richard)? I swear, that scene stirred up some feels. As did many other scenes in this book. This had me an absolute emotional mess, but I regret nothing! Any book that can stirrup any emotion in me is a good book in my opinion.
This book crushed my soul, but I absolutely loved it. I love the way Goodkind writes. It's so smart and you get so emotionally attached to these characters.
Temple of the winds is so far the best in the series. Perfect mix of sexual tension, danger, magic, action, romance and politics. It is true that Terry Goodkind is by no means a literary genius but it takes a keen mind to plot these books and paint such a vivid picture for the reader.
Book #4 of The Sword of Truth fantasy series. (TV series Legend of the Seeker is based on this series.)
Continues the story of Richard and Kahlan who continue to fight against Jagang, 'the dream walker', who threath the Midland and D'Hara.
I'm not a fan of Richard and Kahlan. I've said this before. Just don't like them. Why I keep reading this series is that some other characters are brilliant. I loved Cara, the badass Mord-Sith, even in the TV series. Wizard Zedd is hilarious. And crazyish prophet Nathan is interesting.
Not the best series but somehow I've dediced to find out what happens.

It was good, then it was fine for a long time, then it was pretty cool. A lot of smaller things that bugged me. "Raptor gaze" and other words not quite fitting the time. Too many recaps shoved in random scenes. Hated the kill the women/prostitutes/every woman is a whore (now standard) mentality of every guy/soldier ever introduced. The amount of chapters devoted to side plots not directly involving Richard/Kahlan were heavily reduced from previous books. A good thing. The ending 150 pages made up for not so much action in the middle. Really loved seeing the mord-siths stick around. Cara is the real MVP. Respect.
I still love this series as much I did after the first one. I fell right back into the world Goodkind has created and renewed my love of the characters.
This book is much more interesting than the previous in the series. However, I still do not like the plot device where Kahlan and Richard are prevented from being married...again. The plague that visits the lands and the power players in motion kept me on the edge of my seat. I will definitely be reading the next one.
At first it took me a little while to get it into it, but it then moved quickly and was a good next book in the series.
