So! I am a bully romance ho (we all know this). I love The Golden Boys for a few reasons
1) Blue (the heroine) isn't a total door mat! I find a lot of bully romances have the bullied being a weaker character and not standing up for themselves but not Blue. Oh no, she isn't taking West's shit at all. I also love how Blue is so dedicated to her sister. She comes from this broken home and yet she will do anything to protect Scarlet (I'm secretly hoping Scarlet gets a book because this girl has an interesting story I feel).

2) West. West is everything I love in a bully. He is an asshole, mean, gives off that superior attitude and doesn't show any mercy BUT you see just enough of his good/redeeming qualities and dare I say, a good heart, to keep you rooting for him.

Both West and Blue has (if I can be frank) shitty home lives. They are both broken and strong at the same time. West absolutely hates Blue and Blue has no idea why. As the story progresses, you see the inner struggle West has because as much as he hates Blue, he also is starting to feel something other than hate and that inner conflict adds enough angst and spice into the mix to keep things interesting.

I loved this book but I did not love that cliffhanger! I need book #2 right now!

What a ride this is, this new series started in the best way possible, with brilliant characters, a plotline that will have you hooked from the start, a slow burn that will make you beg for more, and all the twists and turns you never see coming. A strong girl and the guy who is such a bully and that has so many secrets that you just need to read to get him. Full of angst and turmoil that I want the next one now! The audiobook narrated by Neill Thorn, Lessa Lamb, and Sarah Pucket is brilliant, I strongly suggest you check it out and consider hearing the story from these fantastic artists.
