 This was my first manga, and it doesn’t encourage me to try more.

I read the book that this was adapted from, but it was a long time ago. I might be wrong, but it felt like some of the things that happened were different.

I didn’t really like how exaggerated the expressions on the characters’ faces were, and I didn’t like some of the drawings.

I’m definitely not going to continue with this series, and while I’m not too convinced that manga is for me, I might try one that doesn’t have any paranormal elements in it.

Going to stop here and read the novels instead. I don't really enjoy reviewing manga XD;

This was really great, though. When I finish the novels, I may continue the manga. This was enough to hook me, though. Glad I found it! :D

Saw this in the library - first time reading manga - read the original series as a kid, and this adaptation was very true to the original. Nice throwback.

Cirque du Freak manga, book 1.

Darren Shan's gory adventures translate well into the manga format.

Best friends Darren and Steve go to a freak show. Darren is fascinated by Madam Octa, a huge, deadly spider and Steve is fascinated by Mr. Crepsley, a real vampire. And that's where the trouble begins...

This series came highly recommended by my grade 7 and 8 students. I have never read manga before, so I thought I would give it a shot.

Although it was hard for me to get used to the manga style at first, it wasn't too distracting once I got into it. The story was very entertaining and I actually found it quite unpredictable, which is nice! It had just the right amount of creepy suspense. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was because some parts felt rushed. This may be because of the manga style - you don't want to keep using the same panel over and over again just to keep the same conversation going.

Anyway, overall I really enjoyed this! I'll definitely continue with the series.

I gave this 3.75 stars it just fell short of four stars. Darren Shan is one of my favorite horror authors it was great to see this reimgagined. I think I'm going to read rhe rest of the series after I read the actual novels.
