Interesting premise. Felt it took a U-turn midway and ended up becoming something of a slapstick comedy.

Found the narration of the audiobook very grating when it came to dialogue.

I appreciated all the characters, but I almost wish it focused more on just a couple versus the five friends. I enjoyed Leila’s narrative the most because it was the one I knew the most about.

this book was outstanding. i was expecting to like it because i've liked two other novels of hers i have read, but i ended up loving it. i think Leila will go down in history as one of my favorite protagonists. i just want to love her and help her when the rest of her family won't. there is found family woven throughout this entire novel and it's beautiful. the description of food, cities, and people were amazing. i highlighted so much of this and got myself a physical copy because it's something i will definitely return to. i think the first half of the book was stronger, but i still really enjoyed how the story continued beyond Leila.

I don't usually like books full of sadness and violence but I couldn't put this down . Elif Shafak is an amazing story teller . Loved the found family of diverse and marginalised characters
