I don't usually like books full of sadness and violence but I couldn't put this down . Elif Shafak is an amazing story teller . Loved the found family of diverse and marginalised characters

This was such a fascinating read, a perspective into found family and perseverance when it feels like the entire world is conspiring against you. At times the story mirrors itself, telling stories in chronological order and in roundabout ways at the same time. It was only towards the end that I realized
each section begins with the recollection of a scent or taste, which was how Leila and D/Ali spoke of them memories and experiences. Really powerful.
Definitely check the trigger warnings, there's a lot going on in the story of Leila and her friends.

Did I lose all emotional attachment to this book when
out of nowhere it’s revealed Sabotage was in love with Leila?
I did.

what started as such a promising novel ended up in a completely different place that I found just caused mockery of the heartfelt trauma at the start. The different parts honestly felt like different books. Such a shame
