I wonder why some books come at such a perfect moment in our lives, while others completely miss it. I should have read To the lighthouse by Virginia Woolf some other time, perhaps I would have loved it then. It 19s the kind of book I 19d make my favourite, it 19s beautifully written, poetic, introspective, real and deep. However, at this time, I did not enjoy reading it much. Maybe one day I will come back to it.
1CWhat is the meaning of life? That was all- a simple question; one that tended to close in on one with years, the great revelation had never come. The great revelation perhaps never did come. Instead, there were little daily miracles, illuminations, matches struck unexpectedly in the dark; here was one. 1D

the writing was so pretty and i liked how she describes nature with more life than the characters

Need to read this again and study it to truely understand it - for a first read it was beautiful and profound.
Not as good as Mrs. Dalloway, but the middle section is powerful and Woolf is an expert at capturing the emotional psychology of toxic masculinity.
really enjoyed the imagery and descriptive language in this, found the train of though writing a little tedious at times. enjoyable book but not my favorite of woolf’s works
no em sembla just dir res amb les meves paraules, simplement llegiu-lo. no puc entendre q les meves paraules i les de la virginia siguin el mateix. no pot ser. faria voto de silencio si pugués

I listened via the Nicole Kidman Audible version. I'm not sure if it was her narration, or the book itself, but it was not enjoyable. Too many words trying to fit without actual pauses, and it all felt rushed. I was happy when it was over, because the jumble of words had stopped. Possibly, the only way to enjoy this, is if you need to read in small sections and figure how she intended you to take each paragraph...

I can't say that I have ever struggled to read something as much as I did the first third of this book. And then, my brain acclimated to her writing, and I wanted to keep reading, and reading. It was well worth the effort. I have never read anything like this before...lots and lots of stream of consciousness thoughts. Switches without pause between the thoughts of various characters. I know this isn't a brilliant review, just some thoughts.
