The real deal. Woolf totally in control for 200 beautiful, moving pages. Not a word out of place. A supreme work of art.

You can admire something for being beautifully written, but that doesn't mean you have to like it. None of the people in this novel caught my interest, and if it hadn't been short I doubt that I'd have finished it.

MAN that woman could write

Peak comfy.

this book is written beautifully but at times too beautifully, and i wished i’d had a break once in a while. to make the really good parts stand out even more.

virginia woolf is very good at describing and capturing parts of life that are so quotidian it’s hard to remember them, but when you read about it, you feel very seen!

It's as if life is itself one of the elements of life. Which way will you use it?

all hail virginia woolf

I will place this squarely in the “sad beach literature” category where so many of my 5 star reads fall.
Suggest reading this at the end of August.
Beach week in the 1800s.
Took me a while to get through just because of the language and it being a classic and all, so not a quick read but extremely beautiful.
