What an interesting story. It's about a man who gets paralyzed in a car accident and his mother in law takes care of him. Reminded me a lot of Stephen King's Misery but almost a little more eerie.
It is a little slow because you are reading from the perspective of the man but I flew through the last part of the book pretty quickly once things were revealed. The little twists were decent and throughout the whole book I really had no idea where the story was going to go.
I can see how the ending wouldn't jive with some folks but I tend to be a fan of endings like this. Overall it was pretty good story and not overly complicated.

lowering my rating because although i was mostly captivated the whole way through, the disability rep is just putting a more and more sour taste in my mouth the more i turn it over in my head. this is a book that tries to do something interesting, but they clearly didn't even attempt to ask around about whether the rep was respectful. that being said, it's still a compelling commentary on how folks with disabilities are silenced and how health care isn't always what it needs to be. i just don't think my reading of that is what was intended.

this is creepy and weird and every character is unbearable, it?Ђ?s well written i guess but not my usual type of book at all.
Oghi has awoken from a coma after a horrific car accident. His wife has died and Oghi is almost completely paralyzed. With a shattered jaw and damaged vocal cords he’s also rendered mute. Eventually discharged from the hospital he finds himself alone in the world with only his mother-in-law to look after him. She’s exhausted by the effort but also seems to be harbouring some seething resentment towards Oghi.
It’s a claustrophobic story with a bubbling undercurrent of mounting tension told from Oghi’s curtailed perspective. This is a Korean revenge drama set to a low simmer.

For a story that takes place exclusively in one character's mind it was a very tense read. Oghi who was a cartographer and a lecturer is left a broken man after a serious car accident that claimed his wife's life. He is left at the mercy and care of his mother in law who on the surface takes care of his needs but also seems to have a different agenda. After finishing the novel I think I might need to read it again because I rushed through the ending and probably missed out on some major clues.
