This book was a very quick read, even for a book with just over 200 pages...That is mostly because this novel is written in the style of a dictionary with 1 "definition" per page...which means, some pages have a lot of white space.. (and we all know that white space = quicker reading!!)

This novel tells the story of 2 years of a relationship in definitions of words like abstain, champagne, hiatus, etc. I found it very readable and clever.

I liked the concept. Book in word definitions.

Very short but sweet. Takes just an hour or so to read. Interesting format.

"I have never wanted a lover. In order to have a lover, I must go back to the root of the word. For I have never wanted a lover, but I have always wanted to love, and to be loved."

How does he do it? Really, how does David Levithan do it? I can't even begin to explain what it is.

I'm impressed. This author's work just gets better and better every time.
ineffable, adj.

These words will ultimately end up being the barest of reflections, devoid of the sensations words cannot convey. Trying to write about love is ultimately like trying to have a dictionary represent life. No matter how many words there are, there will never be enough.

Love, n.
I'm not going to even try.

An unconventional yet truthful love story told with real emotions. Everyone is just a sucker for love, whether we admit it or not. And, one way or the other, we will always find ourselves risking so much just because of love.

Love is a mysterious thing yet it is absolutely magical and unpredictable that it makes every person meet a new side of themselves everytime. Love is everything and nothing at once and trying to define love would always give you varying opinions. It would always be different from every person's perspective but there will be some points, that they will eventually intertwine.

That's the magic of love, sometimes you hate it but most times you love it and you just fall in love with everything because they embody love.

basis, n.
there has to be a moment at the beginning when you wonder if your in love with the person or in love with the feeling of love itself.
if the moment doesn’t pass, that’s it — you’re done. and if the moment does pass, it never goes that far. it stands in the distance, ready for whenever you want it back. sometimes it’s even there when you thought you were searching for something else, like an escape route, or your lovers face.

It doesn't matter who you are or who you're with...love is rough. And Levithan is brilliant. And I saw him in person. So that's just damn cool.
