Holy smokes that was a fast paced book! I was instantly hooked, which has been rare for me lately. I love how the author doesn't waste time with stupid filler and just dives right in. I was a little disappointed when I found out who was behind everything, but I think I was hoping for more. It made sense though and I did like how it all ended. I am going to continue with the series, mostly because I'm curious how they're making it a series since this one very obviously ended. Not going to be the best writing you every read and there are some plot holes, but if you're looking for something fast and a little intense that you can just relax and read, then I think this is it.

Rating: 2/5

Genre: Thriller

Recommended Age: DNF-ed cannot recommend

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review courtesy of Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

I think I'm in a DNF spree. I had to DNF this book after about 100 pages. It's not because the book was poorly written or not interesting, but because I knew how it would end from the beginning. And a spoilery look at the end proved my theory to be right. That completely ruined the book for me and while it was my fault I can't help but wonder if the book could have been written in a different way to avoid the ending from being guessed completely at the beginning of the book.

Verdict: If you enjoy thrillers, please give this a read! It seems to be highly enjoyable for a lot of people and I hope one day to return to this book and reread it.

Wasn’t expecting it to be who it was. I was a little sad that the Detective died. I grew to like him. And was secretly hoping the husband would show up in the end.

Figured out who the kidnapper was easily. Was an ok read for a free book.

Very quick read; read it in a day. Predictable ending but still kept my interest to find out how it would end.

Not necesserally a bad book, it just wasn't as good as it could have been. The concept behind it was intreguing (and I'll admit the free price tag on amazon helped)... but the author made it FAR TOO OBVIOUS who the baddie was. It was so obvious that I thought I must be wrong because it was too obvious, but no, I was right.

You could tell where the author was trying to drop subtle clues... but they just clanged when they dropped.

And if I am honest I expected more 'game'... more tasks, challenges, puzzles
Spoileronly one and a half of the 'levels' were completed

Regardless, still a good little story, if a little predictable

Good

I finished this book in one day. I couldn't put it down. It kept me hooked from the first page to the last.

I found the kidnapper's diction to be more ludicrous than ominous. (E.g. "Oh, goodie. This will be fun.") It brought the tone and tension of the story down a bit, which was unfortunate. But I found the book to be enjoyable suspense, despite its juvenile antagonist.

Sara’s game

The book was good but I had guessed the culprit in the very beginning which made me just wade through the story to understand why certain things happened. 3 ⭐️
