The five stars doesn't mean that Harriet Manners is up there with Jane Austen and Charles Dickens. On finishing a book you have to ask yourself: did I like it? Was I hard-pushed to put it down? Did it make me feel something? Was it engaging? Did the characters feel real?

The five stars show you how I would answer these questions. Possibly better than the original as now Harriet Manners is not the Geek first entering the world of fashion modelling but on assignment, so less introduction and more story.

Harriet is wonderful. You want to hug her and listen to her facts all day. I love her friends Nat and Toby. Both fun creations. Wilbur is a blast, her agent with a thousand ways of not calling her Harriet. Nick is the (still minor, which works well) model boyfriend.

This time round. Harriet agrees to an assignment in Tokyo. Her friends are away for the summer. Her stepmother is pregnant. Her boyfriend oddly absent. Can the fish-out-of-water pull it off and not let her Geek tendencies get her into trouble?

A very well-conceived and written teenage read. Hugely enjoyable. Light but with soul. Lots of great scenes and lines. Really hope it become a filmed series, it is ready-made for that.

Must say though, Japanese model Rin's poor English and her 'funny' alternatives grated a little, a bit too false. But I liked her character nonetheless.

I'd be happy to have this bought for a teenage daughter of mine. Funny, smile-inducing Harriet is adorable.

Light and easy Sunday afternoon read.

Such a refreshing book! Nice and easy to read but defiantly not boring to read, would be a great holiday book. Well worth a read :)
