Don't get me wrong, I happily read this book in a day, but man oh man is Harriet annoying. This one, I felt, got to a point where it wasn't funny-stupid, it was just stupid. I understand that the point is she's a model that doesn't know what she's doing, but come on, you wouldn't shower? After a long-haul flight, even if you didn't have modelling to do, you wouldn't shower? And touching the octopus, and... there were just so many little things which were meant to make her quirky and relatable, but instead, it made me lose a lot of sympathy for her. I enjoyed that it was a lighthearted read, and takes hardly any concentration, because that's the kind of book I'm in the mood for.

I love Harriet Manners even more now, she's so adorkable! :3 The setting was amazing as well, Japan has always fascinated me and it was so nice to read about Harriet's adventures in Tokyo!
Quiet similar to the first book, this book is a nice mixture of fun and easy to read silliness.
I really enjoyed Harriet in this one since she was not as overly silly but still clearly the girl we meet in the first book, just a bit less over dramatically clumsy.
I enjoyed the additional characters we are getting in this one. All of them where a nice addition in my option so that was great to see, since many authors don't manage to add actual good characters into the second book, but Smale did a great job with it.
And i love that we finally have a story where the boyfriend is not a "bad guy" but actually wonderful person. Thats great to see.
Toby in this one was still a bit strange to me -especially with the constant popping up that he is always doing- but he was also a bit more substantial and realistic in this one at the same time.
Another character that became bit more realistic in my option was Harriets father since he was not as silly and non-fatherly feeling in this one but more of an actual father with a bit of a silly side. Could be because he did not have such a bit role in this book as he did in the first one or because the author herself noticed that the father was a bit too overly silly in the first one.
I enjoyed the mixture of school related things and the strangely fun photoshoots.
Overall?
Nice second book, slightly less overly silly but still really fun to read and defiantly worth a try if you enjoyed the first one!

“I suddenly realise that it doesn't matter how far I go, or how lost I am, or how lonely I feel. I fit in here. I always will.
That's how I know I'm home.”
I received this book through Goodreads First Reads' service, thank you for that again! :)
Mind-blowing. Breath-taking. I just wish it was already June since I want to know what's going to happen to the Manners. But let's talk about Model Misfit. This series is so funny and light and makes me happy and I think Holly Smale makes an amazing job with her writing, really. I love Harriet, I love how she add some fact whenever the situation gets too awkward and she has no idea what to say. I love her and Nick and I was so sad about this whole thing and then I smiled like an idiot when he explained it all and the story seemed very Harrietish. Yes, I loved Model Misfit. Yes, I want Picture Perfect now. Yeah.

Model Misfit Review on K-Books
"That's the truth about people with obsessively organised plans: we're not trying to control everything in our lives. We're trying to block out the things we can't."
Harriet Manners is back. Supermodel... and total Geek. I couldn't be more excited to dive into the second installment of Holly Smale's incredibly addictive Geek Girl series. I absolutely adored the first installment of this series and I couldn't wait to get my hands on Book 2. Model Misfit did not disappoint whatsoever. It carried on the awkwardness, the humour and the romance that book 1 had.
Harriet is one of those characters that you just cannot help but adore. She is funny, spunky and smart. She reminds myself so much of me when I was younger because I would just randomly come out with facts I found interesting and have people look at me like I was an alien or something. That is exactly how Harriet is and I think it's why people love her so much. She is so much more endearing than other heroines in YA novels. We always have the very beautiful and attractive girls who are so 'amazing' that they are always stuck in between two guys. Harriet isn't like that and I think that's why we love her. She isn't the most beautiful girl. She is awkward and geeky but we still see the beauty in the way of being different and I love that.
Holly Smale is fast becoming one of my all time favourite author crushes. I just love the way she writes. I find it so different and refreshing from other YA novels. She really captures the voice of 14/15 year olds and it makes the book so authentic. It doesn't read like an adult talking through a teenager as some YA books can sound but it's as if this 14/15 year old girl is actually talking to you and I think that's what makes this series so wonderful. Holly Smale knows her characters and she brings them to life and that shows the true talent of an author. I adore her and even after this series is over I will read anything and everything Holly Smale puts out as I just adore her.
Model Misfit was the perfect sequel to Geek Girl. It kept true to everything Harriet is and was in the first book. She is still our lovable geek living in the dream modelling world. We get to meet some new characters that I loved learning about and we got to meet our favourites *cough* Wilbur *cough* He is just pure awesomeness. I loved every moment of this book and I cannot wait until I can get my hands on the third book of the Geek Girl series. This series is definitely a must-read. I loved every moment of it.

5/5 ICE CREAMS
I loved this book even more than the first one!! I remember a lot of times where I was smiling, crying and laughing my head off. I was really excited when it was time to read because this book was a pleasure to read. This series is a must for all you contemporary lovers out there.
Setting:
I may have not mentioned this before but I love the way Holly describes the setting in these books. In this one, she describes all the sights and sounds of Tokyo and it really felt like you were there with Harriet exploring these places with her. I applaud Holly for creating amazing imagery and making the reader feel connected within the story.
Characters
Harriet Manners:
Harriet has developed so much in this book and it made me love her character even more. I love reading about her big adventure in Tokyo and her shenanigans that she gets up to. What I liked about Harriet as a character is that she is relatable because she makes a lot of mistakes but she learns through those mistakes as she embarks on her journey.
Nick Hidaka – OMG! Is there any way that this guy cannot get any more swoons worthy!! Nick is such an amazing character in this book and I love the way he helps Harriet through her journey in Japan. I’m not going to spoil anything but the moments that Nick and Harriet shared… my emotions could not control themselves. There were times where I was smiling a LOT, there were times I cried and there were times I could not stop laughing. Nick is so generous, charismatic, funny and witty. He is also not a player when it comes to a relationship which is another bonus.
Rin – Rin is one of Harriet’s flatmates in the model house that she stays with whilst in Tokyo. I loved her character from the minute she was introduced because she has a bubbly and quirky disposition. I love the way she talks even though she tries to speak English because she really wants to learn. I really liked reading all her dialogue because it made me laugh even though I knew she was trying. Like instead of calling Harriet by her name, Rin calls her Harrychan which I think it’s quite cute.
Poppy – I liked her character but I really disliked her by the end of this book because of the horrible things she did to get her own way. I just found to be really pathetic and what you would call a wannabe. Let’s just say she is a mean person and every book needs a villain.
Writing
I have said this before and I’m going to say it again… Holly’s writing is not perfect but I love it. It’s light, easy to read and funny. She is one of my favourite authors because her books make me smile and laugh when I read her books.

I don’t usually do extensive reviews of sequels and this one will be no different; just a short spoiler-free review of what I thought of the book overall and my star rating. (I know this isn’t a spooky read, and I know this is meant to be my ‘spooky fortnight’ but I really wanted to post this review and tell you about this amazing book!)
I was immediately sucked into this book; I found the plot a lot more interesting than in the first book, mostly because of the setting, and I fell in love with Harriet all over again. The setting itself was Tokyo and I think that Holly Smale did a wonderful job of building this place to make it feel very authentic but not too over the top and stereotypical. The characters that we meet in this book are fascinating to read about, each with their own individual personalities, as characters should be, and each with their part to play in the story.
The ending of this book was so beautiful that I had actual tears in my eyes! I love the way everything turned out and am looking forward to reading the rest of the future Geek Girl books by Holly Smale. I’m definitely glad that I carried on with the series and would rate this one five stars, with it being even more addictive than the first.

Meh, it was okay, but some things are super unrealistic for a realistic fiction book. It was entertaining, though.
