This was a fun journey but there are some things that just didn’t land with me. Noor is an interesting character concept, but it feels like she didn’t get nearly as much character building as the other main characters. She just feels pretty one-dimensional. Also, the romance in this book didn’t seem to flow naturally, and it kind of felt like it was put in there because Jacob NEEDS to be in a relationship, which I don’t think is true. My last gripe is that there are some plot points that just felt way too easy and on the nose. Noor’s song is a good example of that. It just didn’t feel organic.
Overall, despite my frustrations, this book was a lot of fun and I found myself hooked!

I’ve really come to love the world of the peculiars and I’m so sad that there’s only one book left after this one! I’ve absolutely loved reading them all so far and conference of the birds was just fantastic! There’s something so drawing and gripping about reading these books and once you’ve picked them up, you just can’t put them down. After everything that’s happened in the previous book, it feels like there’s something bigger drawing to a head, building up and culminating into a final epic. This book definitely felt like that!
I’ve loved getting to know Noor throughout this book and there was so much keeping you on the edge is your seat in this one, I couldn’t put it down. There’s some much action and adventure and you never know where it’s going to turn next. I really love these books and could just read them forever!

Ik was even gestopt met lezen van deze serie maar oh wat is het heerlijk. In een ruk uitgelezen, nu al zin in deel 5. De foto's zijn echt zo'n fijne toevoeging aan het verhaal en maken het nog levendiger.
Not as good as some of the other books but glad that certainly characters were shown again.
Took a little while to get going and the photos weren’t quite as fun, but still good.
These books are a bit darker than I would normally like, but the fact that children and young adults are the ones saving the day definitely lightens the spirit. I love these books and I can't wait to see where the author takes us next!
