OK. I'm kind of disappointed. There were many things I didn't enjoy about this (like the romance, the same villain and it felt like a bridge book to me. Not that much happened and when it did, it was almost brushed past.) That being said, I did enjoy some parts like revisiting this cast of characters I love Millard and Horace and Hugh and Enoch and the whole peculiar family and their dynamic. I'm really interested in the peculiar politics too so I hope we get some more of that in the next book too.
Overall, it was a tad disappointing, but I will still be continuing on with the series.

WHY CAN’T THESE CHARACTERS BE HAPPY FOR ONCE?! STOP MAKING THEM SUFFER, RIGGS!!!
this was definitely better than the previous book, however it’s only slightly better. it felt like a filler. there were a few things that could have been executed better, and the plot was kind of all over the place for a while — if the book was a bit longer, it wouldn’t have felt very rushed. but i still really enjoyed it!
something that i particularly didn’t like was how emma was barely involved here. i understand that ✨things✨ happened in the previous book, but i really would have liked to see more of her considering how interesting her character is. i am quite enjoying noor’s character (having indian representation is very refreshing!), however there are a few things regarding her placement and role as a character (i would go in-depth but . . . spoilers!) that would have made her so much better. i also wish that riggs could also tie up some loose ends that he left in the previous books — not in much depth, but just to revisit it so we have minimal plot holes.
but now i am SO GLAD we got the group back together! in the previous instalment, we barely saw much of miss peregrine’s wards other than maybe four of them, however here we get to see a bit more of the other characters — even if it’s just a little bit. what makes this series so special is the familial dynamic of the peculiars, but now that we saw more of them it’s starting to feel more like the previous trilogy. and the way they treat noor makes it even more enjoyable to see. also, now i am starting to see the jacob from the first trilogy come into play, which has reignited my appreciation for his character.
overall, this was an exciting read and i am anticipating the events of the next book!

emma's being immature & he moved on too fast. the real plot doesn't matter

After all that Jacob has been through he is still a naive, spoiled, and reckless teenager. He still unduly puts himself and others in danger.
I did enjoy this book better than the 4th book in the series. Hopefully the 6th book will wrap all of this up because the storyline is feeling a little forced.

Didn’t like this one as much as the others. Mostly because I felt like Jacob moves on from Emma WAY too fast. They have a little fight, she’s somehow still in love with an old man whom she hasn’t seen in decades, and all of a sudden he’s in love with the next girl his age they find?? No.
I think a major issue with long book series is that you just lose interest in the books as they go forward. Especially with a book series that came out so far apart from each other, it’s hard to recall what happened in the last book without needing to reread the whole series to figure out what’s going on. It’s annoying and frustrating at the same time. I found it hard to read this book simply because I could not remember (for the life of me) what happened in the books before so I just went into this one without a clue of what’s going on.
Maybe that’s why I didn’t enjoy this book as well as I thought I would.

Talk about cliffhanger endings! Next book will be good, hopefully the wait won’t be too long.
I felt this book was a flop.
The beginning and ending were stronger than the rest of the book. I found this book didn't really go anywhere to advance the story, the last book, a map of days, had a lot happen and left us with a huge cliff hanger. I had assumed this book would continue that story more, instead, it seemed more to just go in circles of going nowhere?
The first three books were amazing, on the list of my favorite books. The world created in those books seemed to have disappeared in the conference of the birds. The pictures featured in this book just seemed like old photos and didn't contribute to the character or place as much as they did in his other books from this series.
Really hoping the next book is much better.
