4. Noor/Jacob is not a thing (romantically...I actually love their friendship, but a romance between the two of them? Especially just after his breakup with Emma? ...no. *winces* *cringes*
So yeah, when are these two gonna break up? Will it be when Jacob realizes he is literally incapable of being a boyfriend (which he probably never will)?
Jacob is so...possessive too. Like he knew this girl like for only a few days/weeks and now he will go to the ends of the earth and back for her, and all of her quests are somehow “his” as well now, and gosh if it doesn’t remind me of something else...
Something that ended when Jacob decided to be a good boyfriend is not to be there for your girlfriend when she’s going through what he calls “some stuff.”
And oh, now Emma and Jacob's relationship is supposed to be considered “pure and chaste?”
*you know that guy in that vine who just has that confused expression? Well that’s me now*
Do they live in some alternate reality where making out literally every chance you get is what a “pure and chaste” relationship looks like? Because boy I’m scared to see what a truly passionate and fiery relationship is like in this universe.
But this is what really got me:
Noor: is her usual awesome self
Jacob: OMIGOSH SHE IS SO STRIKINGLY BEAUTIFUL (unlike poor Emma who is just averagely beautiful) AND DANG DO I FEEL ATTRACTED (unlike the way I felt about Emma which was totally not the same.)
Yeah. Sure Jacob. You said the same thing about Emma when she came, you just substituted other girls for the ones who didn’t “live up” to your unrealistic expectations.
Sigh. I don’t hate Jacob, but his constant whinyness, his distrust of his friends - who have proven themselves to him COUNTLESS times - and his almost laughable-if-it-wasn’t-so-sad inability to truly understand how to be in a relationship makes him being the narrator a bit grating.
And now that I’ve complained far too much, let me just say that I adore Hugh and Horace and Enoch and Miss Peregrine and Lilly and Olive and Claire and EMMA and Noor. They are amazing and Mr. Riggs, you put them through far too much. Seriously, I’m calling Character Protective Services on you if you keep putting my babies through such hell.

TL;DR: Despite many flaws, I still liked this book. Why? Because despite the fact that he puts them through so much, Mr. Riggs is a truly accomplished writer who has done a fantastic job creating characters I adore and universes that are engaging and engrossing. I look forward to book 6 with great anticipation and more than a little unease.

SHE NEVER SHOWED BACK UP AGAIN AFTER THEIR WEIRD ENCOUNTER WITH FRANKIE! Like, what the heck, Mr. Riggs, Lilly was seriously the most amazing character in the book and she’s gone. SMH. Big time.3.

Na čtyři hvězdy to je, ale zdá se mi, že to pomalu ztrácí drive.. Přeci jen z původní trilogie tu máme pátý díl, takže je to jako když dlouho žvýkáte žvýkačku.. postupně začne ztrácet chuť.
Co mě bavilo, byl vývoj Jacobova milostného života - celkově mezilidské vztahy se Riggsovi podařilo vykreslit parádně - hezky reálně.
Celkem dva zvraty a opět příslib dalšího dílu, který by mohl být akčnější. Tak uvidíme.

I have read all of the books in the Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children series and I have loved them all...up to this point. I was extremely excited to read this book and bought it within a week of its release. I felt that compared to the other stories there was no real beginning and end. Each of the books usually end with some sort of cliffhanger or an event that can be continued in another book, and this one did as well, but I am not as excited for the next book. This book didn't have a ton of excitement and interesting portions like the other books. When I got to the end of the book, I kept thinking "that was it?" I hope the next book is much better.
